The Sarasota Association of Realtors just released their January 2011 statistics highlighted by the significant increase in pending sales. Pending Sales rose to 1,013 in January from just 789 in December 2010, for an increase of almost 26%. This is the first time pending sales have exceeded 1,000 since April, 2010 when we were approaching the expiration of the home buyer tax credit.
Overall sales for January were at 537, just slightly higher than the 506 reported in January 2010, but lower than the 681 sales reported in December 2010. Traditionally January sales tend to be lower than December due to the holiday season.
Overall sales for 2010 increased by 12.4% with 7,603 sales compared to 6,739 in 2009.
