The school has about 2,000 students, with an 18:1 student-to-teacher ratio. State test scores indicate a 99 percent proficiency in both English and math.
It focuses heavily on college preparation – 98 percent of students graduate. In order to graduate, students must maintain a certain GPA, and pass an advanced class in a foreign language.
Pine View is committed to producing well-rounded students, so extra-curricular – rowing, Model UN, field trips, and volunteer opportunities – are a priority.
The school is less than a 10-minute drive from The Oaks, one of the more luxurious Sarasota neighborhoods. Here, you’ll find beautifully landscaped yards and architecture with Spanish, Mediterranean, and Southern influences. The Oaks is home to three neighborhoods: Bayside, Clubside, and Preserve, each with something different to offer.
Bay Haven School of Basics Plus
Location: 290 W. Tamiami Cir., Sarasota, FL
This North Sarasota public school provides students with a high-quality education for nearly 600 students from K to 5th grade.
With math and English proficiency well above the state average, this school is considered a magnet for students outside the geographic boundaries. The teacher-student ratio here is about 15:1, allowing for innovative classroom initiatives like Manatee Moolah, earned for being respectful and responsible, the Student Leadership Team, and visits from Boomer the dog.
This school is in close proximity to many sought-after neighborhoods, giving you plenty of options when considering buying Sarasota real estate. It is located less than 10 minutes by car from properties in West of Trail, as well as beautiful Bird Key, St. Armand’s Circle and Lido Key.
Out-of-Door Academy
Lower School: 444 Reid St., Sarasota, FL

This elite private school provides quality education for K to 12th grade, as well as pre-kindergarten – a unique opportunity for kids to build a strong academic community during their formative years.
While annual tuition isn’t cheap, you get what you pay for: the school’s overall rating is an A+
Niche, a school review and ranking website, gives Out-of-Door Academy an A+ in academics, clubs and activities, and college preparation. 100 percent of students go on to attend a four-year college program.

Out-of-Door is the only K to 12 school on Siesta Key, a charming barrier island of white sand beaches and clear, blue waters. Its beaches are frequently ranked among the best in the world. The school is located a stone’s throw from many beachfront and pool properties in some of the most laid-back Sarasota neighborhoods.
Suncoast Polytechnical High School
Location: 4650 S Beneva Rd, Sarasota, FL
Suncoast Polytechnical is a magnet high school offering a diverse and innovative education for grades 9 to 12.
The school places well above other schools in the district in English and math and has a 92 percent graduation rate. Of the more than 500 students enrolled, about 65 percent participate in Advanced Placement (AP) testing, with more than two-thirds of them passing.
As a technical school, they offer education in fields such as accounting and robotics and individualized attention.
Located in close proximity to Palmer Ranch and all the communities that make up that growing area, and only 15 minutes from downtown Sarasota. Its central location makes it accessible from many residential neighborhoods in the area.
Riverview High School
Location: 1 Ram Way, Sarasota, FL 34231
Centrally located in Sarasota, Riverview draws students from many neighborhoods throughout the Sarasota area. Riverview High School is located on 51 acres in Sarasota, Florida and was established in 1958. The newly renovated campus, which is home to over 2,600 students and 125 teachers, is the largest in the school district.
Riverview High School has Signature Programs in Advanced Placement, Performing & Visual Arts, Kiltie Marching Band, Executive Internship and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme. Riverview is very well known for its International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme, the first in the area and serves as a magnet for those living in Sarasota County who apply and get accepted to the program.
