Those of us in the real estate business in the Greater Sarasota Area tend to focus on the amazing Sun Coast Lifestyle offering fabulous weather, beaches, golf courses, culture and so much more. Certainly, retirees and pre-retirees make up a good portion of the market.
But are there other reasons to relocate here? Is this a good place to raise a family? How are the schools? It may surprise you that we have some of the best public and private schools in the nation. Pine View School located in Osprey (southern border of Sarasota) is the number 1 rated high school in Florida and the 13th ranked high school in the USA. Riverview, Venice and Sarasota High Schools are also highly rated across the state and offer programs such as the International Baccalaureate and AICE programs. Sarasota County is only one of two school districts in Florida that have had an A rating since 2004.
These are just the public schools. There is a long list of amazing private schools as well. Most notably IMG Academy that attracts students and athletes from around the world in addition to Out of Door Academy and various parochial schools.
The result – we have seen families from all over the world that are relocating here just for their children’s education. That’s what happens when you have amazing schools!
I can speak from experience having seen two of my sons graduate from the International Baccalaureate program at Riverview. I have also personally worked with several national and international clients looking for properties here to either relocate or as a second home while their children attend school.
It is really the best of all worlds!
