Joel Schemmel
Joel’s diverse background as an Attorney and CPA provide him with the ability to assist his clients in the intricacies of today’s challenging real estate climate. This combined with the extraordinary communication and marketing skills of his team, translates into results for clients.
Joel is currently ranked among the top 1% of agents in Sarasota based on closed sales. His career also encompasses over fifteen years working with Arthur Andersen, Andersen Legal, and the Ernst & Young Law Alliance both in the USA and Europe. Joel was an International Partner within each of these organizations and immediately before returning to the USA, was managing partner of a 45-attorney law firm based in Central Europe which specialized in Mergers & Acquisitions.
Joel obtained his law degree from Chicago Kent College of Law and his accounting degree from the University of Iowa. He is a registered attorney in Florida, Illinois and the Czech Republic, and is a certificated C.P.A. in the state of Illinois.
Attracted by the incredible climate and everything that the Greater Sarasota Area has to offer, Joel, together with his family, made the decision to move permanently to the area in early 2002 after several years of part time residency. He is from the mid-west and spent most of his professional career in Chicago and Europe.
Sharon Chiodi
Sharon Chiodi possesses a genuine passion for real estate and assisting clients with the home buying or selling process. A resident of Sarasota since 1997, she has an in depth understanding of local real estate trends and values. Sharon began working in the real estate business as a client service representative which created the opportunity to work with the “Schemmel Property Group”. Her goal is to ensure an exceptional experience for all client real estate needs.
Sharon graduated from Chestnut Hill College with a B.S. degree in Economics. She moved to Sarasota from Cherry Hill, New Jersey, after many years of traveling to Sarasota for family vacations. Previous to her real estate career, she has 27 years of customer-service-oriented operations and financial leadership experience, having worked for Hunt Manufacturing, XL/Datacomp Inc., Andersen Consulting and ADT Security Services.
Sharon has served in many PTO and school fundraising positions as her daughter progresses through the Sarasota School District along with volunteering in other non-profit organizations.
She believes in the Sarasota County community as a special home, a year-round vacation paradise, and an excellent investment. Her love of the area, enthusiasm for the real estate and extraordinary people skills are the right combination for creating results and loyal clients.
Toni Schemmel
Prior to joining the Schemmel Property Group, Toni served as Marketing Director for Signature Sotheby’s International Realty. Toni played an instrumental role in the launch of the company in November 2008 and was responsible for overseeing the firm’s marketing efforts which includes brand management, development of collateral materials, directing the creative content and placement of all advertising, maintaining vendor relationships, managing listing support and call center functions, and maintaining the marketing budget.
Before relocating to Sarasota, Toni worked for 12 years in Chicago and Europe. She started her career in Chicago as a financial analyst for Baker & McKenzie, the largest law firm in the US. She then went on to work for other companies including Godwins Booke & Dickenson - An Aon Company, where she was regional financial controller. By 1996 Schemmel was in Europe working as a controller in Sofia, Bulgaria for Sprint, the fortune 500 telecommunications company and in Prague, Czech Republic for KPMG, the International audit and consulting firm. While in Bulgaria, she also was recruited to the position of adjunct professor at the American University in Bulgaria.
Toni holds an MBA in marketing from Loyola University Chicago and a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Bradley University (Peoria, Ill.) In addition to her real estate license, she holds an Illinois Certified Public Accounting Certificate.
The Schemmels have three young boys Jack, Jamie and Jacob all of whom are sports fanatics effectively translating into a busy schedule even outside the real estate world. The Schemmel’s international experience also brings with it an affinity for travel and other cultures.
